A deadly tornado has ripped through several southern states, flattening buildings and knocking out power.

At least 26 people were killed Severe storms battered Mississippi, Alabama and Texas on Friday.

Eldridge Walker, the mayor of Rolling Fork, Mississippi, told US media that his “city disappeared” as people realized they had lost their homes and businesses.

As an emergency management agency warns that the death toll is expected to rise, we take a look at some of the most striking photos from the disaster.
