East Rutherford, NJ — Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes and two more runs as the New York Giants beat the Indianapolis Colts 38-10 on Sunday to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Landon Collins was one of two players on 16 teams to break the game with a 52-yard 6-pointer late in the second quarter as the Giants (9-6-1) headed for a surprising postseason The game put its final stamp on it. The Giants are the third NFC East team to make the playoffs after the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
New York has lost five straight seasons, including a four-win season in 2021, which led to the firing of head coach Joe Judge and general manager Dave Gettleman.
Buffalo assistant Joe Schoen, who was hired as general manager, selected Bills offensive coordinator Brian Dabor as his first head coaching job.
After clinching a playoff spot and handing the Colts (4-11-1) their sixth straight loss and ninth in 10 games, the Giants looked like the strong Bills ahead of Schoen and Daboll.
Their scoring total was a season high, the first time the team had at least 30 points since scoring 34 in a 37-34 loss to Dallas on Oct. 37. November 11, 2020.
Jones, who saw the team not pick a fifth-year option in his rookie contract, and he was the No. 1 pick. The No. 6 pick in 2019, playing like Bills star Josh Allen.
The 25-year-old caught 6-yard touchdown passes to Richie James and Isaiah Hodgins in the first half, and had 18 and 10 yards in the second half. He went 19-of-24 for 177 yards and 91 yards on 11 carries.
With the crowd chanting his name, Jones left the game with 7:30 left to a standing ovation.
The only downside for New York was seeing rookie Kevon Thibodeau do the Snow Angels after sacking and injuring Colts quarterback Nick Foles late in the second quarter. Foles left the court, but he was carted to the locker room. He didn’t come back.
Sam Ehlinger played the second half and threw his first NFL TD pass to Michael Pittman for 6 yards.

giants: DL Leonard Williams left the game with a stringer in the second half.
