An iconic New Jersey bakery is closing after 4+ years.
Hoboken bakery staple Dom’s Bakery Grand is permanently closing its doors on Saturday, January 1. 28.
The 43-year-old bakery is located at 506 Grand St.
“As many of you know, we have decided to close this chapter of our lives. We are extremely grateful to the entire Hoboken community for their enduring support and loyalty throughout our past 43 years in business,” owners Dom and Flo Castelitto said in shared in a Facebook post.
Owner cited retirement as reason for closing.
Dom’s Bakery originally opened on Fifth Street in 1979. Castelittos moved the bakery to 506 Grand St. around the corner in 1988.
The bread at Dom’s Bakery is very popular. The bakery offers baguettes, focaccia and other Italian baked goods classics such as sfogliatella and Easter bread.
Legendary singer and Hoboken native Frank Sinatra frequented the bakery.
Dom’s Bakery is on NJ.com’s list of 64 foods that define New Jersey. It’s been hailed as the must-go for Italian bread in the Garden State.
